I began this blog almost three years ago and published my first piece on the 24th December 2008. Today's entry will be number 969 which means I have done around 300 blogs a year since I began. However, having had a busy summer working on other projects and increasing demands on my time through one thing or another, I have decided to scale the blog back. I did think of actually closing it at the end of this year but I still believe I have things to say and images to publish that I hope that you, the reader, will find interesting.
The blog started about a couple of weeks after I bought my first digital SLR camera and this blog has captured my journey from a total novice photographer scrabbling around in the dark in terms of how to take pictures, to today where there has been quite a bit of interest in my work. I still don't think I am that good as a photographer but it is a hobby that I want to continue to pursue and improve. Therefore, I am going to broaden my horizons a bit and establish a different presence on the internet solely for my photography.
Tales From Bradistan has featured a whole cornucopia of different subjects including my own personal views and photography about the state of our city and the people who live in it. There is a significant musical archive ranging from arab music through punk to reggae and a lot of points in between. I published a lot less articles about film and politics than I would have liked to but time was too often against me. Stacks of photographs from some of the travels I have been fortunate enough to undertake, particularly in Morocco and Syria, are scattered liberally throughout the blog with a wealth of information for the traveller to hopefully find useful.
So what will the blog feature in the future? Well, the answer is much the same as it has always done but there will be less of it. I will continue to publish images and write articles (I already have quite a backlog of stuff to deal with), but I won't be updating it daily anymore. So it is not at all a case of goodbye, but more see you later.
Please check regularly for updates or subscribe to my twitter feed for when I have published any new pieces. Thanks for all those who have supported the blog and voiced their encouragement up until now. It is very much appreciated.
