Rockers is one of the most important figures when it comes to reggae in Bradistan. For a good thirty years now, he has played in pubs, clubs and other venues with still the same amount of enthusiasm as he has always had. One of my earliest Bradistan reggae memories is walking past the legendary "Perseverance" public house on Lumb Lane which was the old frontline back in the 1980s. Blaring out from inside was a dubplate from Maxi Priest who was still a few years off from becoming a mega-star. The lyrics broadcasted out "Rockers International Roadshow...."
All the classic and now-defunct reggae clubs in the city featured Rockers at the controls at some point. I clearly remember him mashing up "The Mayflower" every weekend and then you would find him in the darkness of one of the illegal shebeens, spinning a mixture of the latest tunes or some sweet Lovers Rock.
Currently, he is collaborating with his old sparring partner Cooler, dropping tunes at the Old Vic in Little Horton each Sunday afternoon. That's where I caught up with him to take the above portrait. Below are some classic images of him from back in the old days.

I remember Rockers from way back then those were the days seeing this has brought back some brilliant memories and keep up the good work with the music One love xxx
